    Time To Prep The Floor

Due to the fact that the floor will be exposed to salt at any given time and salt does not play well with concrete. I wanted to protect my home's foundation from damage. So I invested in a VERY good floor paint. I used a BERH 1-Part Epoxy Concrete & Garage Floor Paint & Primer.

I could of gotten away with just the paint, but I wanted this to bond to the concrete as much as possible. That is why I used the Primer as well. Just a quick note. The Primer is NOT water based, meaning it will not clean up with soap & water. That's right, get a cheap brush & roller to throw away.

The floor must be as clean as possible, before applying.

Applied the floor primer. I must wait 8 hours before applying the paint, but no longer than 30 days. This primer stays tacky to adhere to the paint, but will fully cure when painted with the epoxy paint. Here is what it looks like after applying.

As you can see, any patch work that was done before will stick out after applying primer. No problem, the paint will fix this.

    1st Coat of Floor Paint

Applied the first coat of 1-Part Epoxy onto the floor. Came out pretty well. I now have to wait 24hrs before adding the 2nd coat if needed.

Sorry, been quite busy with work & other projects. I have been working on the room & have taken pics, but haven't had a chance to update on the forum.

Applied a bead of silicon all along the floor & drywall meet. If anything spills inside the room I want to contain it, as well as anything outside the room stays out.

Installed the 20amp heavy duty outlets. Don't worry, I'm installing a GFI breaker instead of being an outlet being exposed to saltwater air. It more cost effective as well when needing to replace.
