Nice! Sounds like everything fell into place. Don't you love it when that happens?

    :)

Which Iwaki pump are you using? I highly recommend a Reeflo pump for that much head coming from the basement. Looking good so far!

I was discussing the Reeflo with Marine Depot & that is what they recommended, but one problem. Their pumps have a 1 1/2 fitting to a 3/4" is NOT going to work. That is going to be A LOT of back pressure.

Going with the Iwaki MD55RLT which is an 1" fitting, but reducing it to 3/4" at the tank is no big deal.

Picked up my drilled 40gal sump & new used pump from my LFS. I was quite impressed. I scored a used Coralife Turbo-Sea 1100-P external pump that is a $300.00 for $100.00 and he charged me $20.00 to drill my tank what a deal. :) The pump was a little dirty so I cleaned the outside & decided it was a good idea to clean the impeller assy also. I'm glad I did. This should be a general rule, always clean used equipment.

    Coralife Turbo-Sea 1100-P Cleaning

Removed the impeller assy off of the Coralife Turbo-Sea 1100-P pump to do some cleaning, before I install it into my new system. As you can see, good thing I did. Found some build up & a piece of coral that would cause the impeller to fail. Mind you, it's $75.00 to replaced the impeller.

Washed & scrubbed with pure white vinegar & rinsed very well with warm water.

As you can see what a difference! Time to put it back together. Amazing, what a little elbow grease can do.. :) I only used the Break-Free gun oil on the bolt treads, to give them & the housing a little protection from the saltwater.

Sorry been quite for over a week, but a lot of family events & getting the ready to hydro seed at the house.

After long thinking on how to cut back on 90 degree fittings & minimize connections I came up with a great idea. Flexlible PVC tubing also know as SPA FLEX. You would be AMAZED at the amount of idiots in my area. Mind you I called plumbing supply houses. NO one knew what I was asking for, I had one person at Lowes that knew what I was asking for, but didn't have the 1in size I needed. He said to call a Pool / Spa place since they use it. End result, I was quoted $2.75 per FOOT and had to be ordered. I found a place online that was a lot cheaper!! The only thing is that I did just get my order in, but me being a dummy I forgot to order the flexible PVC cement that is needed and of course, no one has it around here. So, I had to order that too, plus some extra stuff. Should get it in Mon or Tues.

Back on track again. Recieved all of my plumbing stuff today including the flexible PVC cement I needed. :cheesy: After ponding for awhile on what would look right & work smoothly. I decided to rotate the tank & have my pump connected as straight as possible.
