    Plumping

I've picked up some plumping supplies & of course still need some more stuff that I forgot. In the pick is my return pump. It's an EcoPlus 1056, should be more than what I need.

I have also already plumbed my bulkhead fittings for my overflow.

    DIY Sump

Just picked up a AGA 40gal tank, that I'm going to cover as a sump, ref is possible. Tank dimensions are 36L x 18W x 16H. Now I just need to figure out where to place the dividers, how high, & how low. Also, should I have the tank drilled for piping or just have it feed at the top.

    Saving Money

I just got back $107.00 back from Petco as a refund. Petco is having a 30% off sale on all their tanks & stands this week. Since I bought my system under a month ago (a week roughly) I was entitled to a price match. So, my 90gal w/ overflow (others charge $60.00 to $70.00 for this add-on) is now $295.99 & my oak stand is $443.99. The 40gal is $79.99, but got 10% more due to I complained about the scratches on the left side on the lower plastic trim. I'm never going to see it, but every little bit helps.

Just thought I'd past it along.

    Water Test

I'm sick as a dog with this stupid cold, but need to get the tank running. Did some basic plumbing to do a water test in the 90gal & 40gal sump with reg tap water. Then connected my return pump to test the water flow. I thought I might of needed to cut back some flow, but so far so good wide open. Not to crazy on the pump for quiteness though.. I have my Mag 7 in the tank, to soften up some old build up, before connecting it to the protein skimmer. So far no leaks!

New Custom RO with dual DI.

Just recieved my new custom RO system, still it the box. As you can see that's a big box. I also when out & purchased my new RO water storage unit. Rubbermaid Brute 32gal barrel. Costs a little more, but well worth it.

hey john I have the exact same tank. I would just advise one thing. I am in between a rock and a hard place. I don't have enough flow through the tank If at all possible drain it down and drill holes for a closed loop. My tank has been running for 10 months and it is something I need to deal with what a mess. I would get the tank drilled for the closed loop and either plug the holes or go ahead and install the plumbing and pump. It will be way harder after rock and tank has cycled. It is a great tank though.

This is just test water (reg tap water) wanted to test for leaks in the tank as well as wash it out, so I will be draining it.

Can you please explain "drill holes for a closed loop."???

    Thanks,

    John

    Sump

Well after 3 days of hell, the dividers are in & letting the silicon cure. I had the dividers cut by a local glass company, but the mods I did with a RotorZip.
