So today I received my RE Clam from the auctions, I was at work so my brother got the box for me and placed it in the room. I got home about 4 and half hours later. Opened the box and started acclimating the clam. When I got it into the light a bit the bag had a yellowish tint to the water. Didnt think to much about it till I opened it up. Boy did the water reek!

Got the clam out of the water per instructions of RE, Float then Remove and burp. (Did so)

After Inspecting the bag there was a dead shrimp in it.. I have no clue how thats in there :/

I tested the Water of the bag, .5 amm, and 20 Nitrate. At that point I didnt even want to do the nitrite.

Anyways here is the clam in the tank. It is unresponsive :/ and Is there anything I can do for it? Also the evil shrimp!...

I have no idea and don't even know where to start.

I would contact RE because the clam should have been able to handle 5 hours in your room after shipping.

Be prepared to do water changes as something that big could really foul your tank.

    Sorry about your problem.

Not real sure gambit but hoping for the best for you. I wonder if somehow the clam had ingested the shrimp and then expelled it into the bag. Very strange, fingers are crossed for ya bud!

my guess would be the clam had eaten the shrimp and the stress of shipping caused it to regurgitate it.
I dont suppose you have a hospital tank you could put it in while you contact RE for help?

    good luck :)

I remember RE posting on their listings that you need to tell them about any problems with stuff within 2 hours of the delivery time UPS has down.

When I got my corals, they shipped in very small bags, too. Like, about 8 ounces of water per piece of coral. If that shrimp and clam were both in the bag, and it was decently small, they might not have made it because of the shrimp; they put out a lot of ammonia, from what I understand.

I just wish I knew why a Clam would eat a Shrimp :/!? or house one or let it housed inside.
