I have had a crocea clam in my tank for a little over a year now. My tank is almost 2 and a half years old now. I have never had any problems with the clam and it has always been healthy and happy. But i've taken into notice that he's extra sensitive. Whenever I get to the tank or any sort of disturbance around him he retracts. I nudged the clam today a little just to see if he's still fastened securely in the sand and he wasn't! I could pick him right up so I don't know whats wrong.... Or if there is something wrong. He still opens up but I am just a little worried cause this has never happened before.

Did you check for pyram snails? They are clam predators.

That is great, find a spot for it to attach and hopefully it will. Just keep watch and try not to bother it.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I would be far more concerned if the clam were showing a slow response to light and movement. The only thing that might concern me is if the clam is being pick on by an angel or other fish. Otherwise if every thing is unchanged it is probably fine. Is there a post of the clam on your thread or else where? Crocea are my favs.

How large is the clam now? When clams reach a certain size, they loose their footings. and rely on their weight to hold them down. Quite possibly if the clam is large enough it is trying out being threadless.

I thought about that but since it is a crocea discounted it thinking they always used their threads. That would explain it being more reactive.
