So I heard this scraping noise like rock being moved, and because the rock is new in there, I thought it was settling down... Till I noticed it was being moved by this huuuuuuuuuuuuge clam type thing!!! Its zebra colored inside, and when it shuts quickly all the substrate gets blown away, its the cooolest thing ever!!!

    hope this pic works http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h62/eeyaygirl/IMG_2597Clammy.jpg

Jewel Box mollusks (Chamidae) are pretty cool

To keep it alive, make sure you are feeding LIVE phytoplankton because unlike Tridacna clams, they are not photosynthetic.

I know!!!! Awesome hey! I got some really good rock, loooooads of stuff, heaps of polyps, HEAPS!!! a mini brittle star fish, loads of those Tunicates, and snails. There are these strange things that I cant identify tho. Its just these loooooong strings that sneak out of a hole in the rock and dangle in the water, then suck back in the hole again, its as fine as human hair, and its just these looooooong strands, these things must be like a foot long....

That could be one of two things.....either a vermited snail Monterey Bay Aquarium: Snail (Vermetid Gastropod) Feeding Video or a cteneophore (comb jelly) http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2004-03/rs/images/image012.jpg

I think I have one of these on my rock as well at least it looks like it is a piece of rock that is fluttering that was not there 2 days ago. pretty neat but I doubt it will make it though the cycle.

I Really Don't think that Marine Depot will ship to Perth, You could check with your LFS in Perth or maybe find an online retailer that ships from your area. I culture some of mine when its warm here because I do it outside.
