Clam type (if possible) neat pic anyway

    looks like it could be a squamosa clam.... but regardless that is one of the coolest things i have ever seen!!

    Looks to me like that's the bottom of the clam. You need to remove it so it can get some light.

    Actually this fell off the bottom of piece off rock that I moved yesterday and moved into its current place. It does appear to be open somewhat. I have more that are hiding in a zoa colony that I broke up. They definitely appear to wish to avoid light. Very strange yet neat. I wonder if baby giant clams start out this way. Thanks for your responses.

    Looks kind of like a scallop to me.....I don't see crocea.....what the heck are you guys talking about.

    Try to get some better angled pics. I would also run your hand over it to create a shadow and see if it closes. If so, probably a clam of some sort. if not, probably a scallop.

    By the look of it, it has scutes that definitely don't appear to be crocea.

    Do you have any better pics of the clam from the top?

    what it really is whether it be a clam, scallop or oyster is open to debate until better pics are posted :)
