    Hi,

My tank is 9 months old and I have four clams inside it since about 5 months and never had problem with my clams.

However the other day I decided to use my sunsun pump to blow all detritus off my LR and underneath them. I have to say the water was very dirty for one hour. I did this twice in a row trying to remove through my skimmer as much dirt as possible.

The next day I noticed two of my clams fully open but not extended. I left them like that in the morning and when back to work at night one was like gone (just an empty shell ), and the other one was visibly dead.:-/

Do you think the cause of death is coming from all the detritus in the water column?

    Thank you.

Could it be because I use my clams as barrier between two different species of coral to avoid corals to fight between each other?

Like on the picture, the clams who’s dead now was in between the frogspawn and the Chalice/Mushroom?

I never had a problem placing the clams next to LPS or soft corals

Looks like a "few" corals to me. :D

On a serious note, how do you maintain levels? That's a whole lot-o-coral, and clams need a lot of calcium...

Just guessing here, but a frogspawn is an aggressive LPS. I'd bet it was stinging the $#!^ out of the clams mantle.
