    Hello all!

I know we've all seen them and we've all wanted one. Being that I'm new what's the deal? Are they that hard to keep? If not what why is there a stereotype that says they are hard to keep?

They need high light and are be calcium hogs. I have a crocea that is doing great in my 40 gallon, but i have 2 ai sols over it.

you just really need to research the different types and decide what is best for you and your aquarium. The smaller ones usually are harder to keep so if you do get one try to go with a decent sized one like 3 inches or bigger.

Like with everything in this hobby, it all depends on who you listen to and personal experience. I've had my Tridacna Crocea for 9 months without issues. 11" under my 4x24w T5HO's. One of the higher light needing clams for sure. Bought at only 3" it has added a full 1" in growth. But like everything in this hobby things can/do change quickly :)

clam are not hard to keep, it all boils down to how much research you did on the clam of your choice and understanding what is need to live not survive. Do you have a clam type in mind?

Not at this moment. I'm more so doing research regarding their lifestyle and requirements to keep them. As mentioned in previous threads, I'm doing the whole coral propagating things to start a business of my own as well as help stock lfs with aquarium grown coral rather than ocean plucked.

Are corals able to be propagated or are they one of the few that you can't propagate?
