Clean Up Crew Suggestions

The problem with a clean up crew in a FOWLR is what kind of fish do you have? a lot of fish that are not reef safe also eat hermits and snails and other inverts so what kind of fish are you talking about?

 

If you have fish that do not eat snails or hermits I would highly reccomend (1) scarlet reef hermits ( because they do not kill snails) and (2) the Top Crown Snail they are the best! they work fast and eat everything that would be considered a pain in the ass, brown algae, green alage ,hair algae you name it they eat it and fast.

If you do get hermit crabs, make sure you buy some extra shells (about 15 cents a piece) as hermits will kill the snails for their shells (not to eat them). If they outgrow their current shell, they have no choice but to "acquire" a larger one.
