    hello,
haven't been around here for a while... im wondering what i can get for my nano to move the water around a little more. the tank has small bubbles and (im going to call it) debree, mainly on the top portion. the water never looks really clean, is it supposed to be that way or can the water ever be clear? is there something i can buy or should i change something in the tank?

    thanks:)

hmm. as for moving more water you could buy a powerhead but that would take up some room in a nano, If you have a nano where there is like a false back with filtration behind I would change the pump to a bigger one or putting powerhead back there. Also If your nano has the output (for water) that is adjustable raise it out of the water a bit, just enough where water is breaking the surface but going back down, this should cause a few bubbles in the water bringing gasses and such out. How often are you doing water changes, sand sifting, what clean-up crew do you have? Thanks Hope this helps !

I'd get a JBJ or similar surface skimmer for the intake.

After that, I'd upgrade your pump and possibly put a split Loc-Line instead of the regular return. Use one nozzle at the surface, and one about mid-way against the glass :) I'd use either a Rio600 or 800...or use a maxijet 1200

What I did for my BC and the water looks awesome :)

Did you setup a fuge in one chamber ? Get a 'submersible' light rated for about 10Watts and set it up above either chamber one or two. Then get some macroalgae :) Oh, and if Turbo is handy with a dremel, have him carve out that stock filtration cartridge. I'll get pics of mine asap, but you can use the tray and put your own media in :) This way you can replace it for cheap every 3 days or so.

ive tried moving the output around in different ways, but i havent seen any change. i didnt know i needed to do water changes. once a month i sift the sand and blow the rocks. i have around 10 hermit crabs and a sand sifting star. i started out with 5 turbo snails and a tongan fighting conch, but they slowly died.

    More water changes mabe better

    HI,
With a smaller system maybe every 2 weeks 20 % would be better, water can load up pretty quick and if its not diluted with volumn , hey i saw a small power head with the tiny little nano skimmer it was pretty cheap i was tempted to buy it , it would stir up the water and skim a bit for 30 bucks pretty neat.

Hey IMO Dont use a skimmer with a nano! PS I bought that Skimmer DONT BUY IT, It is sooo cheap and smaller than anything!!! Plus you need foam rings to get rid of bubbles and it only comes with three. I hate the thing! I am only using it for the pump! Good Luck
