I just cleaned my octopus bh 800s skimmer for the first time, ive had it for 6 months, never cleaned the entire thing before, just the collection cup, i had been having issues with it in the past with it not skimming properly, but for the past month or so it had been skimming "ok".

Well today i decided to clean the entire skimmer because i had a lot of gunk collecting at the bottom of the skimmer, and that shouldnt of been happening, and ive had a recent GHA issue going on as well.

And today i took the pumps off and started cleaning them they were FULL of NASTY chunky crap, not just the intake pump but the outtake as well, it was DISGUSTING how much crap was in the pumps.

So hopefully i have found the cause of my excess nutrients and the GHA will go away and i will get good skimmate.

So just be sure to clean the entire pumps and skimmer reguarly if you dont, i think i will starte doing it once every month or once every other, not sure how often i should be diong it :D lesson learned for me :D

Every few months is okay, just remember it may take a week or so to break back in before it starts skimming well again.

You can change the title yourself. Just go to edit then advanced. I think its funny that you're worried about spelling saying you "SPELT" it wrong LOL.

ok, im not looking forward to another break in period because it will create soo many bubbles, after the first break in period when i frist installed it, the microbbubles never stoped, so i was forced to put a filter sock on the outttake pump, and even with the filter sock on, i still got microbubbles, just not as bad or as noticable, so im hoping after this break in period htere wont be as many microbubbles and i can take the filter sock out, it gets extremly dirty and is an eye sore, but better than a ton of bubbles

I cleaned my skimmer really good for the first time just two days ago, and it started skimming again right away. ;)
