Come home, water on floor, return pump making noise. Overflowing from DT. Hob overflow lost siphon somehow? Algae clogged it up? Now clue. Water got on mp10 driver. Driver is off. Dead? Idk. In bucket of rice now. Ato kept putting more water in while tank was overflowing. Salinity down to 1.022 from 1.026. All corals closed up. Hopefully not dead.

I basically want to just hulk smash everything right now. Raging so hard.

Dont get too mad just yet. You can still fix this with minimal losses, just go slow and get that salinity back up over the next week or however long it takes.

The biggest issue I see is the MP10, hopefully that will dry out.

I went to the gym. Didn't really help. Mp10 is in rice. Really hope it didn't fry the driver. My huge rbta is all closed up now. Luckily I don't have to much money invested in corals. But I still hate to see what I have all closed up. I really am kicking myself for not getting a reef ready tank. Never again will I use a hob overflow after I get rid of this tank.

Is it bad to bring the salinity back up fast? I mean at most it was down for no more then 8hrs. I just dumped a bunch of salt in. Its up 2 about 1.024. I know that's stupid but I already did it so no going back. Will wait a while to up it anymore.

DO NOT BRING THE SG UP SO QUICKLY!

Going down is a cake walk, going up so quickly will kill things including fish.

Sorry to hear of the misfortune, but you have been given good advice. When disaster strikes like this, go slow, do not make major adjustments other than the ones needing immediate intervention.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. The 3reef motto of Go Slow Let it Grow should be your guide on your SG.

That sucks man. I'm hoping the best for ya. I hated having a hob. I only had it cause a tank overflow once. And that was cause my mom was babysitting our son while we went out. She was wondering what the utube was & moved it. Causing the tank to flood all over our carpet. She called me frantically crying & I ended up yelling at her over the phone & told her where the main switch was to shut down the tank. Man I felt like a **** yelling at my own mom. I would clean the tube every few months with a bottle brush to prevent it clogging. But my new tank is drilled, so a lil less worry. But I worry about my mp10 controller being mounted on bottom outside cabinet. I've thought about mounting it on my tv center beside my tank for the same reason. These are just things that happen in this hobby. It might cost a lil money to replace a few things. But deff don't do something you'll regret for a long time. Like screaming at someone.

Man that really sucks! I have been looking into alternatives and/ or more reliable hob overflows. Between my standpipes and my utubes I have been worrying about this more and more lately, and don't feel comfortable being away for one day.
I would not bring you sg up anymore today. Go slow. Bring it up very slow over the next week.
Again in sorry to hear about you situation.

That sucks! Mine clogged on me months ago but I was right there when it happened. Every since that time I won't even let algae come close to it. It's a pain in the butt and ill never own a hob again but I'm stuck for now.
I really hope your driver is ok. Putting it in a rice bag was the best thing you could have done. Good luck!

sorry for your situation man. I had some water get on one of my drivers of my mp10, I did the bag of rice for 3 days and it worked perfectly. Hope yours comes through, I'd wait at least 24-48 hours in rice before attempting it. I waited three days to be uber safe.
