Last night I was observing the tank and I witnessed something I found very odd. My Powder Blue Tang would swim right into my school of black axil chromis and seem to prostrate for them. Then several of them looked to be cleaning him. I did not know chromises did that sort of thing. Has anyone else ever seen that and should I be concerned for my PBT?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
They must be finding something tasty on the surface of the fish. Some type of external parasite would a consideration.

Hopefully it's not a parasite. :( Do pods like to stick to fish too? :) I know my chromies love pods.

I have seen pods stick to fish with really thick mucous coatings like Mandarins. Tangs typically have a thin coating hence the reason they are so susceptible to Marine Ich.

Personally I have never seen Chromis clean but anything seems possible in this hobby.

You might want to take a look with a magnifying glass or get some macro images if at all possible.

Having not had tangs for many years I would be hesitant to recommend a dip for what would appear to be an other wise healthy fish.

Hopefully someone else will chime in with an experience similar to what you're seeing.

I'll see what I can do tonight. My tang is camera shy, everytime I bring my camera up he hides and peeks at me. He acts like a scolded dog. hehe I spent 20 minutes last night trying to get a shot.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try to get a good picture of him. I'm hoping it's not ich, I qt'd him and treated him with cupramine for 2 weeks. If it's ich they must have hitchhiked on my CuC or something. :(
