I have finally got my corals happy again especially the acan and they are back to accepting mysis etc but my cleaner shrimp will not leave alone. I always give it a fill up before I feed the coral then 5mins later hes diggin in stealing the lot. Im getting fed up with him now. Is he essential to the c.u.c??

I normally have this problem with peppermint shrimp, not cleaners. But if he seems to be bothering the corals too much then I would get rid of him. Are you target feeding with mysis or something? I do broadcast feeding with plankton and my cleaner doesn't bother my coral.

My old cleaner shrimp did the same thing. Drove me nuts. I couldn't figure out a good solution. I actually stopped feeding the corals because of him. But he died earlier this year. I have not replaced him.

Had the same problem with skunk cleaners and peppermints, so I quit buying them for my tanks. Even lost a couple when they tried to steal from nems and became dinner.

Shrimp in general are not really essential, but I like having one. The coral banded shrimp is the only one that has never bothered my corals. I've had several over the years and have never had any problems with them.
