lol you think thats bad, i got 2 cleaner shrimp both of which are pregnant, and two blood shrimp one of those is also pregnant, so i got 3 out of 4 shrimp preggers and one lone blood shrimp doing all the magic?

Ive heard they can reproduce asexualy but its far less common.

these were the best close ups i got of em.

I have a pair of fire shrimp just for this purpose. Their eggs are great coral food.

i thought they where all hermaphrodites? cant they do the business all by themselves? i am not sure, but having eggs doesnt necessarily mean you will have larvae, when and how are the eggs fertilized? i would like to get a breeding pair of blood shrimp...

Certain hermaphrodites can self-fertilize. The common earthworm is a good example. Blood shrimp are hermaphrodites but you need two of them to get eggs. You will get larvae every time (called zoeae) and they are fertilized before being laid. Unfortunately, they will not survive a typical reef tank environment. Interestingly, the "mother" can switch every time they breed.
