It is a dry heat, yeah right !
If your brittle is 1/2 inches, yes you should be fine.

A shrimp can be stunned after acclimation and fall victim to an enthusiastic CUC.

I have others that are longer- maybe 3 inches arm length? 1 is red (the huge one) and the other is black and white banded I believe. And I knew he should have been more active- wasn't sure why he was just standing there.

Yeah I was really kinda shocked when I saw others blaming serpent stars for killing and eating anything in the tank. I have had them in every tank I have ever owned.(except my present tank) and they have never attacked anything. You will definitely want to feed them though. I always gave mine Krill,Pieces of shrimp, squid, or fish twice a week.;)

how many starfish do you have and of what size? I'm guessing the shrimp didn't get acclimated right(not your fault, they can just be finicky) and got caught! I only have the micro brittles, so not sure!

No, my levels are fine. I have 3 stars- 2 are red, I think the big red one is the brittle- he has arm length of 3 or 4 inches, he's huge! The other red one is tiny, he was the one with the shrimp in his mouth though. The last black and white one is moderately sized, maybe 2 inches arm length? Don't see him at all. I was looking at. The tank after lights off and the big guy was really active. I'm concerned because the dartfish seem to hang out near the ground when they're inactive- there's a nice corner under my in tank refugium that's walled in. Do you think the big guy poses any threat to the dartfish and the clowns? I mean the dartfish are really fast, I'm worried about when they sleep. The smaller one is around where the dartfish and clowns sleep, so that's freaking me out too. I'm getting so paranoid!! Also the cleaner shrimp is completely gone.

On a brighter note, I love my dartfish! LFS had a couple in stock. 2 zebra barred and 1 scissor tail zebras are about 4 inches while the scissor tail is 2-3 inches. They school together too!
