Okay guys so my LFS was having a massive sale yesterday :D
so i got 4 frags for the price of 3 and a cleaner shrimp 10% off :)

i am all excited and this morning everything looks great 3 of the 4 corals started to open and the cleaner shrimp was moving and picking at the rocks.....

so about 2-3 hours ago my cleaner shrimp started acting weird(not really moving, twitching, bobbing, etc.)
this happened to my other cleaner shrimp in my old tank who died a week later..... so i am freaking out ...
    i checked all my levels
    ammonia-0
    Nitrite-0
    Nitrate-0
pH-8.1(a little low, so i raised it with a buffer solution to 8.25)

Then 20 mins ago...shrimp dies... D: Idk why

so i removed him did a 10% water change so ammonia wouldnt rise.....

checked levels 2 mins ago everything perfect again

    IDK WHAT HAPPENED HELP!!!!!

    What's your acclimation process like?

Inverts need a longer slow acclamation. I usually do 45 min to and hour while maintaining temp.

shrimp are sensitive to changes. you should float for at least 15 minutes and do the drip method for 1 hour. drip should be around 3-4 drops per second. after half an hour remove half the water and fill again for another half hour. than you can put him in.

I was going to say !!! 15 mins is no where near enough !! But thanks for being honest

Go with an hour+ acclimation and see how different the results will be

Also, check the bag salinity vs your tank water with inverts. If there's a big difference, even longer acclimation.

My wife and I have adopted 3 hour drip acclamation and since then, we have had fantastic results.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Never ever in my life have I acclimated anything for over 30 minutes.

I am not saying do not do a slow acclimation on sensitive inverts but lets not get carried away here.

Frequently shrimp will slow down and go into molt mode shortly after introduction, this maybe due to the change in water chemistry from one system to the next.

In hind sight I would not have altered the pH or added any buffer for that pH, but rather taken a wait and see approach.

Sorry to hear about your shrimp. In a fully cycled tank a dead shrimp should not case a decline in water quality, no need for a water change.

    Sometime less is more.
