I bought a cleaner wrasse for the second time... since the start up of my tank. Last time it died with in a week. This time however its about 3 weeks old (in my tank) and eats everything I put in the tank. Including pellet food, nori, mysis, and cyclops. Has anyone else had this experince? I was happy about the nori but amazed by the pellets.;D

I have read my book and it says they need large fish to feed from or something to that affect.

ive heard a better name for them is "rent a wrasse"llol. usually not known to survive long without parasites to feed on. thats cool youve gotten your to eat regular food. good luck with it.

Honestly, they're best left in the ocean. We don't know enough about them to keep them long term. An insufficient diet eventually gets the best of them in captivity.

Also, neon gobies are tank bred, making them even more sustainable.

The gobies do well because they're not like the cleaner wrasses in their eating habits. The gobies aren't considered "obligate" cleaners in any way, which means they don't have to eat parasites, but do - somewhat like a cleaner shrimp, which will clean fish off, but will also eat other stuff put in the tank. The wrasses are pretty much at the "obligate" end of the spectrum, and almost exclusively eat only parasites.
