    Hi everyone,

I would like to hear from people that have or had a cleaner wrasse. I am thinking of getting one but I would like to know a little more about them. Thank you :)

I've had one for about 5 months.  At first he worked really hard and cleaned all the fish in the tank unfortunately now that all fish are free of parasites.  he is no longer welcome to clean so it has turned to harassment.  The fish no longer like him around.  I was told that at this stage it will no longer have a food source and die but I have not see that yet.  He has grown quit abit and seems very health.

If you don't need a cleaner I would recommend another type of Wrasse.

I need something to keep the fish free from parisites. This is just a preventative measure. Perhaps a pair of cleaner shrimp would do. What do you recommend? [smiley=confused1.gif]

A cleaner Wrasse will certainly do the job. I have had many cleaner shrimp and none of them have actually cleaned fish. But that is just the ones I've had.

It actually cleaned fish. Very cool to watch.  [smiley=smoking.gif]

People don't recommend cleaner wrasses becuase of their high mortality rate.

Red Skunk Cleaner Shrimp are much better than Cleaner Wrasses IMHO

cleaner shrimps are great and fun to watch. some will even swim over and grab your arm when you reach in the tank and take food from you. and if you have a pair of them they reproduce frequeantly which produces a natural food for fish and corals

Hate to say it but the only cleaner wrasse I've own killed off two of my favorite fish by harassing them. I went the shrimp route after that.
