I need advice! I'm nearing the end of my cycle. Ammonia <.25 Nitrite =.01 and plenty of diatoms LOL. Should I start adding a few cleaners to start cleaning the tank?

What are your nitrates at? I would wait tell they drop before adding your CUC.

If you still have ammonia and nitrite your nitrates wont be far behind them. When your nitrate level peaks and then drops to below 20 I would add your CUC.

Not to be a negative nancy, but those numbers don't sound near the end to me. Nitrates tend to get up at first and, IME, take the longest to come down.

I would say wait on adding anything until the ammonia and nitrite 0's. Then you're just waiting on your nitrates to start coming back down... IMO, that's when you are near the end of the cycle.

Once the nitrates get back down below 20 (40 too), assuming they end up that high at all, is when I would add the CuC.

    Good luck.

Ya i would agree with peredhil. Wait until ur nitrite and ammonia are 0 then add a clean up crew no point in rushing, mine cycled for 2 months then I added a CUC, I hate when things die and there no use killing them to rush.
