Ever since i've had my tank, going on 5 months now, I've never fully cleaned out my remora C, just the collection cup. Instructions for the skimmer don't really explain much about maintenance other than cleaning the collection cup which i do 2-3 times a week. Reason why i'm asking is because it hasn't been producing much skimmate lately, only like 1/4" at the bottom of the cup over a couple days and the cup itself is as low as it can go. Maxijet1200 running it is cleaned out and bioload hasn't changed. The guy who had this setup before me said he would get a half cup full every day or two and i haven't done anything to the tank to reduce the bioload (same amount of fish/coral etc.) I've done a search in this forum for remora c and there are over 100 threads talking about adjusting the skimmer but not much about cleaning it out... any input would be much appreciated!

Take off the collection cup and check the inside of the tube where it foams up. If the DOC's are caked on the inside, it can hinder the skimmers performance.

thanks for the replies... so running hot water through the thing is my best bet then? do i need to scrub out the inside or any specific areas besides the tube that the collection cup goes into? and how often do you take the entire skimmer off the back of the tank and clean it out?

it says on the instructions not to use hot water because it could crack the skimmer, i would just use normal temp water and spray it
