I have a GenX PCX(Main) and a Pan World pump(skimmer). They're both used and not noisy to where I would think something is wrong with them, but a little too noise to be in my living room. I was reading some of the reviews on marinedepot.com
Some people say they take theirs apart every now and then to clean them.

Anyone here have experience doing that? Maybe it will help with the noise. Just finished installing the PVC and all so I hate to take it back apart again. Do they make some sort of quick-disconnect for PVC?

Which Pan World are you running? I had a Pan World 100pXX and the fan made most of the noise, but it was quieter than the mag 9 I was running. Didn't notice mine until the kids were sleeping and the TV was off. I actaully ran mine for over a year and never cleaned it and never got any louder. Of course I'm not saying not to clean it either.

actually at Lowe's I bought a Ball valve that had union at both ends so I could shut off the water and remove the pump to be cleaned, Like these. But they are no where near as expensive at lowes!

I think it's a PCX40 , but I'm not sure. I'm in a hotel and will have to look tomorrow.

I'll look into cleaning and adjusting it when I get home. May even have to run a pipe into the garage and mount them there... about 3 feet away.

Here's what one guy said in a review:

Comments: This is a great pump for use with my old Marine Air air conditioners. The old pump was pretty well worn out (had been great for MANY years) but this Gen-X pump moves more water than the old Little Giant one did. Nice and quite if mounted properly. Has nice rubber sound dampers on the mounting feet, but they don't work if you let the mounting screw get off-center and touch the metal. Then the hum is transmitted. When mounted properly, it is as quite as a mouse.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Another guy said his was noisy... about like mine probably.
