I am upgrading to 90gal tank soon and i want to use some of the rock from my current 55. Im having a bit of hair algae problem and wont have enough time to treat it b4 i transfer and i certainly dont want to put the rock with hair algae in a new system.
What can i do to clean the rocks during the transfer? 1 suggestion was to take a brush and scrape it off and rinse the rock. Any other suggestions?

the only 100% percent way to get rid of the gha is to nuke the rock

I agree. Put it in a Rubbermaid Brute and acid wash it. Long term you could try to reverse the myriad of potential nutrient export issues that created the problem, or blast it out in one afternoon. Give it a good rinse; let it dry and your back in business.

Toothbrush and a thorough washing will reduce it but will not make it go away. A strong clean up crew and carbon and GFO will help to eliminate it along with careful feeding.
