I just bought me a second hand prizm skimmer for my 55, thing is i cleaned it best i could but there are some hard to reach parts and a bit of hair algae in the pipe, anything i can wash it in to make sure all parasites and algae is dead, and if i was to put in my tank as is would the algae take off and spread?

I'd wash it with a 3:1 water:vinegar combination. This also will help break up gunk that might still be in it. The hair algae is probably dead but I'm having a battle with it so I personally would make sure it was gone first. That stuff is evil.

First run it in bleach water and then run it in some Vinegar or CRC limeaway ? to clean out any clacium deposits and pull the pump to make sure its clean and clear. Running the pump is the acids will clean it very well just inspect it first ..Then a simple rinse under a faucet
