Cleaning the Filter

    I have 2 cannister filters hanging on the back of my tank. Each has 3 sponges in them. Every month I clean the sponges in waste water & rotate them. Once every other month, I clean the sponges & the canisters. Would I also have to clean the canisters in waste water ? How fussy should I be ?

    Sediment sometimes does get beyond the sponges IME oceansurf

    I think maybe 4 times in a 9 month period, I removed my HOB aquaclear filter and just flushed it in the bucket after having rinsed the media bags in the same bucket
