What are you guys using for a lens on your DIY builds? I need to add one to my fixture and I was just looking around. The price is basically the same for clear acrylic or lexan. I didnt know the difference between the two so I did some quick google searches.

Polycarbonate / Lexan compared to Acrylic / Plexiglas

It looks like acrylic is the better choice, with 96% light transmission vs. 89% with lexan. Also I'm reading where lexan can yellow as it ages and also scratches easier. Anyone else ever look into this at all?

I used Lexan; I'd probably do acrylic. I'll probably replace mine at some point. It's hazed up a bit under the RBs; whites didn't seem to affect it interestingly enough...

Clear acrylic is overall a better choice for this application. From my days at the sign shop, I know lexan yellowed as it aged. Clear acrylic keeps crystal clear assuming you don't rub on it. Plus, you can polish acrylic much easier than lexan. Use cell cast if possible, as extruded is harder (not by much) to get clean edges and doesn't melt as easily while cutting. Using a router or table saw is the preferred method of cutting it. Also, with cell cast acrylic, if you really wanted to, you can flame polish the edges and it looks like a piece of glass.
