I'm new! Please excuse the crude drawings and the questions that I'm sure are covered somewhere - I did search!

I own a 125 gallon tank. It has dual bulkheads coming from an overflow box, with PVC do to the sump. I'm wanting to run a skimmer and fuge in the sump, with the return in the middle. The return is currently running to an octopus splitting to the left and the right, and slightly open spouts all around the tank.

    Here's a crude drawing:

    So here's my questions:

I understand from reading here that my return flow need only match what my skimmer can do. The problem is I need both a new skimmer pump and a return pump. What gph size would yall suggest?

Also, the lights. I plan on having live rock with a few coral. My tank is 28" deep and 60" wide. What would you consider minimum requirements on for wattage on a MH setup?

If you notice anything else amiss about my setup please let me know, thanks!

Ok skimmer and return pumps have nothing to do with each other and there not even the same kind of pump a skimmer pump pumps air and water and a return pump just pumps water contant your skimmer manufauter for a pump. The gph of your return pump is dependent on how many gph your overflows can handle you always want a little less than wht wour to overflows produce.

For lighting if you want to go with mh i would go with 2 x 250 watt you can handle whatever you want and will be perfect for that tank

And for things to change make sure to put a pvc valve on both overflow lines going into the sump so that u can ajust the flow

did you get all of that ? lol
