    Thanks!

I use Reef Crystals for salt. For dosing I drip kalkwasser continually.

The LR I started with was loaded with coralline in several colors. Having all that coralline to seed the tank helped it take over pretty quickly. Other than that it just needed time and stability.

I changed the salt to Coralife from Instant Ocean. I surely dont have to dose as much since the change. Pink/purple has just started to pop up recently after the dominance of green on my 29.
Now Im in the process of upgrading to 90 gallon, fresh start again. Your back ground is not painted, correct?

Nice, I used to have a FW planted 90. They have a nice size footprint to work with.

    My background is not painted.

Very good usage of the waste water. It is also good for African Cichlid tanks.

    Thank you.

I will have to figure out a use for the water after the growing season is over. The hose would freeze solid if I left it out.

What happened to the 90? Any plan to go bigger SW if you still have it?

We are not gonna paint the 90 either. The boss (wife) has decided on this one this time.

I sold the 90 a few years before I got into saltwater. It was a great tank, but the maintenance was too much. All the pruning required and manual top off combined with dosing regularly was allot of work. The reef tank is actually allot less work. There is almost no pruning and the tank is fairly well automated. All I have to do is pluck some macro out occasionally and mix up kalk every couple days.

I'll probably stick with the 40 for a while even though I have a few ideas for a large inwall.

Here is a pic of the 90
