Ok, sorry if this is posted in the wrong spot

I am working on a design for a tank that I will be mounting in a wall.. with all the appropriate reinforcement and so on.

It will be a min 150 gallon, with 75 gallon sump. I am trying to figure out the most appropriate and cost effective water flow solution for it. So far I am leaning towards a drilled tank ( on the sides ) with two closed loop pumps hooked up to a couple of squids.

    Any thoughts?

Why two pumps? why not just use one large one? You can split it as many times as you want. IMO I would have two intakes and at least four returns.

It was just a thought really. one big pump and a smaller pump to augment for times when I would like a lesser amount of flow. Didnt really think about multiple intakes on the same side of that.

For cost effectiveness circulation pumps are the best. They use far less watts per gph produced, do not potentially weaken the pane of glass they are attached to as holes in the pane do. They may also produce less heat in the system.

I agree with 2in10. Cost effectiveness closed loops use much more power than power head pumps. Depending on what else you put in the system, this may push you over the edge for a chiller. Big pumps and chillers are not cost effective. Doing that you can easily go Vortechs or Tunze Stream on a controller.
