I cant get the cloudiness in my tank to go, I have two packs of chemi-pure carbon in my fluval and been trying to use bio-magnifier and did a 15 gallon water change, skimmer is working great. Can't figure it out.....how to I get the water to clear up???

Not sure what the cloudiness is, but for the film on top, are you agitating the surface with a powerhead or do you surface-skim? Sometimes tank cloudiness is associated with scum on top, sometimes not. . .Kinda hard to tell.

The carbon is new, few days, reason I replaced it was due to the cloudy water and it hasnt made any difference, the bio-magnifier also clears water caused by bacterial blooms supposedly. The surface of the water is agitated on both sides by fluvals but still there is a film where the surface is not disturbed. I think the film for the most part has become from the use of the biomagnifier collecting the particles and floating to the top. Got a figure out how to get surface skim..., still doesnt explain why the water is not clear, all I can do it continue with 15 gallon water changes frequently

What type of overflow do you have? I know on my when the slits on my overflow get plugged with algea I will get a film on the surface. I was told it was grease from the fish food.

When I clean the algea off and let the water flow good it cleans up pretty fast.

No overflow, therefore no surface skimming, just whatever agitation I can get from the koralias and an HOB skimmer. I'm sure I will figure it out but still dont get what the cloudy water is from. I think I need to perhaps check my calcium levels??

How old is the tank? When my tank was about 3 months, my water got really cloudy and had a film on the surface. I noticed little specks in the water ad they kind of looked like the Copepods...so I turned off all the flow... Let it calm down and sure enough it was a massive explosion of copepods... Cleared up over time.
