    Help,

My tank was fine last night, turned the lights on this morning, thought it was my eyes at first, but the water is really cloudy. Its been running fine for the past 4 months. All the fish seem ok in it and the shrimps / hermits.
The Xenia, and star polyps havnt come out yet.
The only thing Ive been adding is Salifert aminio Acids, I dosed the tank at the weekend, as recommended by the lfs to improve the coraline algea. I did notice some brown/redish algae appearing on the top of the sand.
What the hell is happeneing? Is it some sort of algea bloom. Theres quite a bit of culepra in the tank and the nitrates are always below 10.

is the calerapa in the tank changing colour now, getting lighter, a yellow colour or is some if it now white?

could be Calerpa releasing spores prior to collapsing - or whats commonly called "going sexual"

if thats the case it will clear, but carbon will help take the edge of the poor water quality caused by this occurance

It could be a bacterial bloom from some form of excess nutrient in the water.
I would stop dosing amino acids, they're generally unnecessary (regardless of what the LFS may say to get you to buy something), especially for coralline, sheesh, that stuff is a nightmare once you have to scrape it off the glass.
Is your substrate clean and free of detritus?

Thanks for the replies, Just got in from work. I took the Calerpra that had turned yellow out this morning, put a carbon sponge in the juwel box, and some polyfilter (Usualy just use the black filter box as a sump for powerheads feeding the fluidised sand filter etc..)
Anyway the water is crystal clear again. I have noticed some rust coloured algae growing on the sand lately.
Do you recomend keepking the calurpra in the tank, or getting rid of it?
All the occupants seem fine. Mandarin, Gobies, Blennies and tang. The shrimps, crabs, and snails all seem ok, And the xenia is pulsing away. I have had some problems with some yellow/brown star shaped polyps lately, but they seem to be looking a bit better.
Cant believe how quick this has cleared. ive just come back with 25l of RO to do a water change with.
