So usually when I get aggressive with my cleaning, removing algae and whatnot, the water gets a little cloudy then clears up fairly quickly. But a couple of days ago things got cloudy and they really haven't cleared up yet. Yesterday evening I decided that it was because I had algae in my hoses (or something that looked pretty nasty) so I took everything apart and cleaned all of my hoses. It still looks cloudy today. Any suggestions?

Run a diatom filter for a couple minutes? It will clear up the cloudiness if its just debris, or so I have heard.

Hmm, I'll give it a try, but don't own one. Any recommendations?

Well it depends what is causing the cloudiness. It could be that you stirred up enough nutrients for some sort of a bacteria bloom in which case you really can only wait it out I think. You could put a filter sock of some sort in your sump if you run a sump to see if that helps. Unless your flow changed or you added a bunch I don't see how it could be particulates because they should just settle out like before you stirred things up.

Well I figured out part of it, and it's a little amazing. A few weeks ago I dumped a bottle of copepods into my sump, a day or so later I read that it was a big waste of money and figured nothing would come of it.

Fast forward to a few days ago. I decided the live rock in my fuge needed to be re-organized and the egg crate needed to be repaired. In the process there was a LOT of stirring going on in that section, the section I'd poured the pods in.

Fast forward to a few hours ago. Instead of looking at the cloudy tank I shut things down and took a closer look. The walls of tanks were CRAWLING with copepods, tons of them. My guess is they are part of the cloudiness issue.
