I had to turn my lights on in my tank at around 3 AM and had to put my hand near where my clown sleeps.

Now she keeps swimming around the tank with no direction and bumping into things. She also is falling straight to the ground and going places she never ever goes. Even if I turn the lights back on and go near her with my hands she doesn't move to run away.

Now I would say the lights just messed with her but after leaving her alone forever she is still just floating around the bottom of the tank aimlessly.

I am really worried because its the strangest thing I have seen from my little clown. Other fish are fine!

It's probably just because she was asleep and when you turned the lights on you scared her and made her wake up really fast so she feels discombobulated.

I wouldn't worry about it. Just leave the lights off and let her relax.

I have two threads and didn't mean too.

See the thing is the clown still isn't acting normal. Not going back to where it noramlly feels safe and kinda just bumping into everything etc.

Just scares the hell outta me. I'll update tomorrow morning...

Was she acting fine today and before you turned the lights on?

I really think you just made her spazz out by turning the light on. I mean she was sleeping in the pitch dark...having the light just turn on and your hand down there was probably pretty scary and weird....

See how she is in the morning.

Everything normal. The only thing I did different was I had to add a newly 1 gallon mix of salt water to replenish from drip acclimating some coral.

    Ammonia - 0
    Nitrite - 0
    Nitrate - 5ppm
    Phosphate - 0
    Calcium - 480
    dKH - 12.2
    Mag. - 1230
Salinity - 1.024 changed from 1.025 way earlier today.

The fish is now "sleeping" in the middle of the tank at the top. The thing is it was fine in its spot till I had to flip the lights on the fix my duncans due to a hermit getting underneath and almost flipping them into my BTA! But now she is just hoovering in a new spot.

I have four fish. A gramma, a kole tang, and two black percs. One black perc sleeps with an anemone while the other next to a heater.

    Yeah normal and ate fine.

I would just think she would try and run to her safe spot you know? Just strange seeing her act this way and I never have before. She also looks pale under her belly. Staying in middle of tank near top sleeping habits look normal just not correct spot.

I'm just freaking out because why would she sleep in a new spot? She went around the tank like she was drunk and is now sleeping in a new spot...strange..

I think you just startled her. Think if someone were to turn on a light in your bedroom as bright as the sun in the middle of REM sleep and then try to catch you with a hand 90x your size. I personally would wet my little clownfish tail..

let it be and dont worry until tomorrow, you will only cause more stress turning on that light. Actually come to think of it, a way of catching tricky fish is to turn the light on at night to startle them and catch them.

    Hope everything goes well

Like Bama said, you scared the clown pee outta her, that's not really a safe spot for her anymore. It'll probably take time for her to settle down. She might pick a new spot.
