Clown & Anemone, friends er foes?

Well, I just had the larger of my Maroon Clownfish die. I had put an anemone in with him about a year back, and he beat the thing to death! Whenever the anemone got a good hold he would whip it with its tail until it lost its hold and night after night it'd be in a new place...
So, nom im thinking that since the younger Clown is about 2.5-3 inches long, ill start him off with another. Any ideas how to avoid the problem further and/or what kind of anemone would make best friends with him? i ppreciate the help!

Maroons are one of the more aggressive clowns but I haven't heard of them killing an anemone before, maybe the anemone wasn't very healthy or something and couldn't stand up to normal wear and tear by the clown? I'm no expert though, just guessing.
