I have a neon green seabae that's approx. 6in in diameter that was hosting a black and white saddleback clown (A. Polymus). The clown is only been in the tank about a week and hosted with the anemone the first night he was in there. This morning I had to do some rock rearranging to get a dead slug out of my tank before serious issues arose and in the process the clown left the anemone and is currently hiding in the back of the tank behind some rock. I really liked the pair of the two so my question is will he go back to the anemone once everything settles down or is he just done with it?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
The drive to reside in anemones is strong, I imagine once everything settles the clown will return as long as a dominate clown is not chasing the hiding clown away.

Right now it's only the one clown. I plan on getting another soon but hopefully it will all return to normal. On a side note do you think that all the moving around of the rock work and same will cause a mini-cycle to start?

If the tank is medium to fairly large and established I am VERY reluctant to remove any dead inhabitants if it involves moving rock around. The less hand time in the tank the better. Not sure what type of slug it was though so I would have probably been concerned as well.

You are probably fine, to be safe just do some water testing and some small water changes and perhaps change out the carbon if able.

Well the main reason that I was looking for a dead something was because my nitrate exploded over a few days. I went from 0 to around 100 and the coral and my clam started turning brown so it was an emergency in my book. I've done about 4 water changes and its come down to around 20, is there any advice that ya'll can give about it?
