That's why you never keep more than one of any single species, unless you want a species-specific tank, of course. ;)

thanks guys....the dispute seems to have cooled off. The clown still gets chased but the damsel doesn't persue it all the way anymore. I'm becoming more concerned that the female clown is disowning him.....my female has been swimming back and forth pacing the glass. i'm almost certain she's searching for her mate that died...when the new male starts to swim with her she runs away. I was hoping she wouldn't notice the difference and go on with buisness as usual. Do you think it will pass in time or will she never accept the little guy?

May take a while, but it'll pass. I had nearly the same situation- I introduced my second Ocellaris more than a year after the first. Took almost 3 months for them to "warm up" to each other, but it finally happened.

It funny all this hate for damsels. They don't magically appear in your tank. So if you put one in with out knowing about their aggressive nature then its your own fault not the fish's. Just saying.

lol it was my first fish! and it has never been agressive to a newcomer til now. I thought i'd have a cheap one to learn on but the bugger has been with me for almost 2 years now. Any ideas on how long they live?

I might go fishing for a damsel tonight.. see if i can find the right size hook.

Oh don't get me wrong, my first fish was a yellow tail damsel. He is still in the tank a year later. He can be a little butt head when I add new fish, but he usually calms down. I was just commenting on all the talk about killing them, its not their fault, that's just the way they are. If you don't want the aggression don't put them in the tank, or be prepared to get them out.
