ive had a pair of Occ. clowns for 2 years. they were spawing and laying eggs every couple weeks, then a week ago the male disappeared. didnt jump and no body was found. the fish was very healthy so the only thing i can think of is that the green LTA that hosts them ate it. he was only a inch or 2 and would dig really deep into the anemone. IS this possible? tank is a 75

yes checked overflow and filtersock..its strange because my 3 yr old asked to watch finding nemo and when it was playing she went to the tank and asked where nemo was. i said in the anemone and she said it wasnt there. he had vanished (maybe down the drain to the sea)

im beginning to think i have a mantis because there is also a pile of snail shells by the LTA, and a few months ago my wrasse was swimming around (paralyzed) in circles upside down with bristleworm bristles in his head(died a few hours later). i thought he was stung by my mini maxi. i hear clicking but i also have a pistol shrimp so who knows. if i lose another fish ill go hunting

    That's really strange.

The anemone could have eaten him, but I couldn't imagine it eating him so fast :-/

He could also be hiding. You probably would have spotted him by now, though.

i already added a snowflake juvy cause my female was depressed. hopefully she will let him in the nest soon. i dont feed my LTA so maybe he was hungry. the only change i made was adding a powerhead(1400gph) and my nem loves it and puffed up really big. maybe it was a combination of little male fish in a hungry nem that was really happy with the added flow

Maybe you're right. Maybe it was hungry. I would try to feed it Silversides, Krill, raw Shrimp from the supermarket, and Squid every two weeks, alternating between the four (Silversides one time, Shrimp the next, etc.) if possible to keep him happy.

There actually have been some cases in which an LTA has eaten fish, but I never imagined that it could eat a fish that fast.
