Thank you for that site for me to look at.. So the best fix would be to get an anemone? We just dont really like anemones because they always end up getting stuck in our overflow box and clogging the out take, or eating our fish. The last one we had was a long tentacle and it ate our 6 line wrasse. I dont know why it did, we fed him regularly. Maybe we will just have to make do and make some type of mesh so it will not go into our overflow box. What type of anemone do you guys suggest? If we were to do this we would have to have a small one like a bt. Our tank is only 26gal. Any suggestions would be great. Something that would be an easy transition for my silly clowns. :D

i always thought anemones like a bta would need more light than a compact flourescent could offer.

does your alveopora looked disturbed by the clowns?

Before we moved it the 3rd time it was always closed up bc the clowns would not leave it alone. In its current spot they have not bothered it as bad. They still nip and poke at it. It opens all the way once a day tell the clowns come.. then it closes up.. Some of the polyps are out for the rest of the day but not all of them.. I love this piece of coral, it is so pretty when it is all the way open.. but it hasnt had much of a chance to stay open :-/...

sounds like the coral may not survive the clown abuse.

the only thing i can think of is to seperate clowns from the coral either with a qt or to somehow isolate the coral while in the tank. try taking a large plastic water/juice bottle large enought to surround the coral. cut that bottle in half so you can place it over the coral like a barrier. punch a bunch of holes into the bottle so water can circulate and for you to be able to feed through. dont know if it will work permanently but it will keep them off while in use. i say try a few days and remove to see how the clowns behave.

do the clowns nip while polyps are extended. if so, you might have a smart and lazy fish, it might be stealing food from the coral which maybe why he is attracted to it.just a thought. if you are target feeding this coral make sure you feed fish first.

i dunno what else to think of. good luck

Good idea :).. We will try to make something to surround the coral. Yea our lazy clowns do nip at it while it is extended.. They are piggys, every time we spot feed the coral even after feeding the fish the clowns always harass the coral.. It was funny at first to watch but now its just annoying :-/.

Good call on the alveopora NU-2, they sure do a good bleached impression. :)

Also good idea about trying to separate the clowns physically from it for a while.

As for anemones if you only have PC lights you will probably need to keep the anemone up really high for it to get enough light, that may be why you have trouble with them wandering if they're not happy with the light they may go seeking higher light levels so it may be tricky to get them to settle down.

The clowns have not gone in threw the top.. Once they do we will have to come up with another idea.. Or try the bottle idea.. We used fiberglass screen material for this so the coral will get adequate water flow and its still easy to feed them :D !
