I just walked into my room and one of my clown fish was spazzing out and swimming on its side. it then went on the sand and stopped moving! what is going on. I added some red slime algae remover today so could that be it? the man at the store assuredd me it would be fine without an airstone

several seconds worth of a spaz or just a quick twitch then was ok? were the lights out? My clown use to twitch when it saw it's reflection, but would also sleep near the surface on it's side. they can be rather strange fish at times. Stopped moving fins and gills or just is resting on the bottom? mine likes to perch on the cyano in my sand.

If all params are perfect then why did you add the red slime remover. If all params truly are perfect it shouldn't be growing. There has to be something there is too much of that it is feeding on. Have you checked your phospates?

red slime will eat up available nitrates and phosphates so it could read low or even 0 if you have enough of the gunk.

How long has the tank been running? How big is your tank? If your parameters are perfect as you say then there was no need to add the red slime remover.

Yeah need your parameters. There has been a lot of discussion about red slime remover. It is not really that specific against cyano, as claimed and can nuke some other bacteria, possibly even some involved in biological filters. You could be having or have had a significant ammonia spike. Or alternatively, could be from the sudden die-off of cyano, instantly releasing all it's nutrients back into the water. Or you could have had a toxic strain of cyano which suddenly released a lot of toxins back into the water. etc... Hopefully you are running a significant amount of GAC?
