Clown fish establishing sex?

Were they purchased from a store or private sale? And if from a store, were they recent arrivals there? One thing that you can do right now, just to separate them, is to pickup a small plastic basket (like a mini version of a clothes basket) with a rim that can float in your tank. You can either place the aggressor in it (like a time out) or place the victim in to protect it from the other. They can still see each other, but can't get to one another. I bought a few from a dollar store and they work great.

 

I'll try that, they have been in the tank since may and were from a LFS.

 

If you had them that long i would think they would established who was the female (larger one) Have you checked your water to make sure nothing is stressing them out? Also have you changed food or changed feeding times?

 

Water is fine and parameters stable...?

 

Very strange.. Best you can do is just monitor them maybe try seperating them for a bit.. but after that you kinda just gotta let nature take its course and see what happens... You may lose one you may not.. If so you will just have to try and pair her again with another one or IMO if it kills the other i would prob. take the one that lives back to the store and get a credit and try another pair so you dont have an issue again.
