Today I thought was going to be a great day I was adding my first fish. Well I bought 5 mexican turbo snails, 2 clown fish and a peppermint shrimp from my LFS. I added them to my 46 gallon bow around 5pm. Both clowns were side by side when i put them in. All the way up until at least 9pm when the last time I checked on it. And when I was going to bed at 11, one of the clowns were missing. I can't find that thing anywhere in my tank. I looked outside of it just in case it jumped and nothing. Could it have really died that quick? It is my first saltwater tank. But I never had lost a freshwater fish that fast in over 5 years. Have you guys ever had any issues with clown disapearring?

sorry i should have probably put a more detailed subscription. I just have an ac70 hob and a octopus bh1000 skimmer so no sump or canopy or anything like that. The little guy was only maybe a couple inches but I wouldn't he would completely disappear.

Well your other inhabitants are all peaceful/too small to do any harm, if that's what you are wondering.

Sometimes, fish will hide for a while after being added to a new tank. I really wouldn't worry. But as mentioned above, be sure to check if the fish accidentally umped into the overflow (it could have been startled by something else in the tank).

Edit: Ok, no sump. It is likely just hiding out within the rock work.

Alright guys. Its a pretty safe bet my clown died....somehow I have no idea. I moved virtually piece of rock in the tank looking for it and found nothing and all my levels were the same. All 0 except my ammonia spike to about 2.0 ppm. So I did about a 15% water change. I still can't figure out what could of happened. I'm not sure if my peppermint shrimp got rid of the remains of the clown. I guess I won't know.
