Alright .. most are going to say I must have seen something different than what I actually saw.

My perc is going to town on a candy cane coral ... eating the polyp!!!!! Taking bites out of it and everything ... WTF is up with that?

Anyone experience anything like this before?

What the heck is his deal! Sorry about the blurry pics, didn't use tripod, and he's super far from the glass, zoom extended all the way.

he's tiny too ... I'll never net him out of there lol. I've got like 200 lbs of LR in this thing lol

    Any recommendations?

Maybe preparing to host it like an anemone? I believe they nip anemones before hosting.

He could be trying to start hosting it. Face rubbing and nipping are the norm at the start of clowns hosting.
He could also try to eat it I guess. Just because something is labeled "reef safe" does not mean each fish isn't an individual. I have a hippo tang that occasionally goes nuts shredding my kenya trees.

try putting a fish trap next to the candy cane coral and put some of its favorite food in there and get that little bugger out of there. other than that try to feed it more, it might be trying to tell you that it is lacking a necessary amount of nutrition.

that sucks, bro. my female ocellaris will bite my mushrooms but i figued, who cares its a mushroom. if she took a bite out of anything expensive she be out of there pretty quick. maybe you could nab him during feeding time. mine are food hogs and wouldnt notice a net while theyre stuffing their faces

This can't be the issue ... I'm actually incredibly worried that I overfeed the tank.

I'll have to figure something out ...

Free Fish, or Expensive Coral ... the choice is simple. I didn't even want a clown, someone I was buying corals off of was shutting their tank down and they were just gonna flush him ... he was the last piece of livestock before the breakdown ... so I took him so he wouldn't be killed.

Way to return the favor little dude haha
