    Hello,

I hope this is the appropriate forum, apology if it's not!
We have a clown fish who was full of personality and spunk but a week ago started acting 'strange'. He has found laying on his side on the bottom of the tank and/or just hovering around in one corner of the tank. I've researched a bit online but it either sounds like he's dying or 'it's just a clown fish trait'. When I go to put food in, he is fine! When he takes notice that someone is watching him, he's fine! It's so weird. The other fish seem to think there's something wrong with him too, almost like they nudge him down there "Hey you, get up!" He is doing the 'strange' behavior about 75-80% of the day.
Oh he's a black, orange, and white striped clownfish. Standard clown(?)
Thanks in advance for any info, or knowing if there's a thread relating to it.
    Happy Friday!

Mine does the same thing near lights out time and at night. I thought he was dying the first time I saw it.

29gal, nitrates have been tested...water levels are all good..and if it was a water problem wouldn't snails be dying off first?? The other clown and wrasse are acting fine. Yes, I thought he was dying too! Maybe not? I hope not, I love my clown fish!

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Sounds like normal clownfish behavior to me. Mine hang out in 2 areas the front central and the back corner. They are not huge swimmers like chromis or other fish. If the fish is eating, parameters are in check and it just hanging out in one spot of the tank it is probably ok. If if stops eating, breathing heavy at the surface or has physical symptoms than I would be more concerned.
