now that my missing eel has been found, there's a new development in my tank that I'm slightly worried about...

My little clown is obsessed with staying in the top right corner of my tank... He was all over the place when I left but now he doesn't seem to want to leave the top corner of the tank and I don't know why. He's eating normal & he responds when I'm up by the glass (he see's me and swims around like normal but as soon as I walk away he goes right back to that corner...?

Why would he do this? Is there anyway to get him to stop?

    a few side notes..

The tank levels are all reading near perfect...

There is an aneneme in there but so far my little clown (his name is rosco & his aneneme is named chicken & waffles, so it's Rosco's chicken & waffles, haha, I'm such a nerd, haha) but anyways, he has no interest in his aneneme thats on the opposite side of the tank..

also, there are no other fish to bother him or to force him into a "territory" unless you count the eel but he doesn't seem to bother Rosco at all.

I've had this happen one other time with a different fish a few years ago but that was when I had a really dominate fish that forced him up there.. Any idea's you guys have about this? Thanks!!

The clown wouldn't happen to be a true percula, would it?

He's my first clown that I've ever had that's done this.. I didn't know that it was that common.. So I don't have to worry about it? I just want to make sure that he's not stressed or unhappy.

Yep. True percs like the top of the tank. False percs will hang out in the middle.

Agree with the above. I used to have two and they would just swim in the same place, and would even sleep in that same place when the lights went out. I thought it was odd that they wouldn't go and explore more, but guess that's the way they are.

clown fish are gold fish of the sea :D
they dont have much personalities besides swimming like olympic swimmers. They dont even try to hide when they are first introduced to tanks, just a perfect display fish for guests, since they never ever hide

sorry i don't mean/ want to hijack your thread but i was having same problem, they stay near the top and sometimes swim down near the middle and thats about it, one is a true Perc and one is a grade b Picasso, they sleep vertical in the top pressed against glass it is funny. But my question is i have been trying to get them to host an anemone for some time, been almost 2 months and they wont go near it, it is a carpet anemone quite large about 12 inches. now the carpet likes the sand bed, since the percs like the top of the tank, will they never go down to the bottom to host this anemone? or should i find a different species like a bubble tip or a long tentacle that could host higher up on a rock or the glass?
