My O. Clown has stopped eating, was eating fine until today now he just seems to hang vertical. (see photo)

Tried pellets and Mysis, he was eating both before today. The only thing changed is I added another clown, smaller than him, on Saturday. After the addition they both seemed fine, eating and getting along.

When was the first clown added? A lot of times, adding two unpaired clowns to a tank (one after the other) will result in hostility. I used to have a pair, one died of Ich 2 years ago, and I still have just the one that's still alive. I would return it and get a new pair, but I'm attached to it. What are your parameters? You haven't had Ich or any other diseases lately?

ehh this is happening to my maroon too, well the hanging vertically but he still eats. probably because of the new clown, but just in case, check parameters.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Yes specifically ammonia, nitrates, sg and temp.

    Consider a water change.

Mine often sleeps like that and he's a lone clown with nothing that bothers him. Yours might be stressed from the other clown though. How much smaller is the other?

I have always found this to be due to stress with clowns- for many reasons, but results may vary. for some odd reason my clowns only do this when they are pairing up, I have heard of others having trouble but I have not had this problem, as clown fish are a favorite and well studied- I am sure there is a likely answer- I can only share with you what I have had in my tanks.

Sorry, should have checked water parameters 1st.
Checked them this AM, nothing out of the ordinary. I'm due for a scheduled water change this Saturday.

    Ammonia 0
    Nitrite 0
    Nitrate 10
    Ph 8.0
    SG 1.025

The new clown is smaller than the existing one, there was minimal pecking when I added the small one. They seemed to be getting along.

This morning they both seem okay, they seem to be swimming on opposite sides though.

I feed after work so I'll update then.

    Looks good and sounds good.

Clownfish can be very strange, could have just been the introduction of the new clown.

My concerns were possible exposure to a disease the new clown introduced or elevated ammonia secondary to new fish introduction and increasing feeding amounts.

    Good luck

I agree tey can be strange. you may want to try some frozen cyclopeze in the tank. I have used it to fatten up a clownfish in the past and it works wonders for fish that wont eat.
