I got a MaxiJet 250. Its turns 80 gph (my tank is a 65g). The suction isnt that strong so i got 2 for the bigger one i returned. I put one on each end of the tank. The suction part is pretty tiny. Dont think anything will get sucked up anymore. Not getting an anemone for w while so ill worry bout it later;)

EDIT: The old powerhead was an Eheim 1000lph = 219gph

A 65g should have no problem acommidating a flow of 219gph. 2 65 gallons i maintain have around 1000gph of flow. Sounds like the protective housing wasnt in place or that the clown was weak to begin with. Sucks to lose a fish but blaming others is no way to excuse for relying on others to build your reef. Not trying to be rude, and i understand that everyone needs to vent. 160 gph is on the very weak side for a 65g tank, a maxijet 900 would more appropriate.

Actually, one is a Maxijet 250, the other side is a maxijet 500. I didnt want more than a 250 pushing the flowers and mushrooms off my live rock. The 500 on the other end moves the water surface and puts out 107 gph. Total = 187 gph for a 65 gallon tank. Is that not sufficient?

    Thanks for the input

wow I would assume that is not enough flow for most people. I got 2 MJ1200's in a 44 gallon. I think that makes it @600gph before you addin the turnover from the mechanical filter and skimmer. All in all I turn the volume of the tank about once every 3 minutes. Can that be right?

For mushrooms and encrusting "flowers' the flow is still low.....and in the near future your going to get alot of detritus build up in dead spots around the base of the rocks and in holes/crevices. The point of the high flow is to keep orgaincs and solid waste suspended so that your skimmer and other filtration can remove them or convert them. It also stimulates stronger and healthier growth in corals. If the mushrooms are blowing off the rock then they are prob. not happy. I would shoot for around 600gph from 3-4 sources (ie returns, skimmer, and 2 phs). 10x the tank volume is currently considered the baseline for water turnover per hour. I shoot for about 15-20x's/hr from as many sources as possible in the systems I design.
