I have a set in my 55g but really like the black clown fish as well .. Is it possible to add another pair or should only one pair be kept?

If you have an existing pair of clowns, they will most likely kill the new ones.

It will also depend on how big the pair is you have currently compared to the one that you are wanting to get. If the pair in your tank is bigger then the one you want to get, you might be alright. The female would be the biggest one in your tank if sex has been established. This is why you wouldn't want to introduce a bigger clown then what you already have. If the one you want to add is going to be smaller, then the current clowns will most likely just bully it to let it know who the boss is. I'm still knew to whole clown fish thing, but this is my understanding of things so far at least. Hope this helps you out.
