Hello Iam new to the saltwater world. I came home tonight and both of my clown fish were laying on the sand not really moving. Do clown fish or any fish sleep??? They seem to be fine now. Any help would be great. Thanks

Are they breathing heavily? If they are swimming around when the lights are on and eating and being active they should be sleeping when they lay on the sand.

when did you add them? tank specs and water parameters?

Yes fish sleep. Nearly all of them. Lights dont even have to be out necessarily. I'll catch my hippo taking little naps on the sand bed mid-day from time to time.
As said before, I wouldn't worry if they are acting normally during the other times of the day.

Yup. My ocellaris clowns sleep on the sand. Pretty cool actually. My maroon clown sleeps in it's condy.

My maroon builds a sleeping area every night under one of the rocks. She'll take pieces of substrate out of the area one by one until she has dug a nice hole for herself to lay in. It's kind of neat to watch.
