When I got back home from my late class tonight (I had been gone for 2 and a half hours) My pride and joy yellow clown goby had a big chunk missing out of his tale. I am pretty sure one of the juvenile clowns got him. Kinda surprised because he has been known to put them in their places when they get froggy. Anyways I threw the dominant clown in the sump, and couldnt catch the other. Will the gobys tail recover? Should I be doing everything I can to catch the other clown and move him as well. Only other fish that could have done the damage is the gramma but I doubt he would, hes more bark than bite. Also I just noticed tonight my goby hanging out in the big torch coral is this common?

sorry to hear that about the clown goby! I think if all he got was his tail, that should heal. I would make sure to feed good high quality foods that contain added vitamin and fatty acids to help him recover.

It is hard to say what got him. Clowns can be butt-wipes and tend to nip other fish at times. They are damsels. I would keep an eye on the other clown and see what happens. I think in a few days if you put the other clown back into the tank, she will probably be fine as she is no longer the old one in the tank. However wait to long then might have fights between the clowns.

My clown goby hangs out in all my corals, he likes the duncans and the acros so i wouldnt be surprised to hear he likes to hang out in the torch.

Excellent, I feed prawn eggs, and mysis soaked in selcon. Hopefully this will suffice for the vitamins and fatty acids. And I will be keeping a close eye to ensure no further damage is done to the little guy. Both clowns are going in the 90g within the next week which will solve the problems in the 29g

Also do you think I will see any water parameter changes due to moving around rocks to catch the fish? I know on occasion people see ammonia spikes after disturbing their sand bed. Hoping this wont be a issue.

how big of a tank is it and how long has it been up. It is hard to say if you will cycle........depends on how much rock was moved and how much sand was stirred up.

I would do a water change if possible, and if not I would add some prime to be safe, until you can do a water change

I only moved one rock that was touching the sand, 2 rocks that were on other rocks. Its a 29g biocube with a 20g sump. Tank has been up total for 6 months, but has been moved 2x in that time. I will shoot for a water change in the morning.

Changed about 5-10% which isnt much. But nothiing seems to be showing any signs of problems either.
